Lat-Lon Receives GPS Container Tracking Patent |
| Denver, Colorado, Lat-Lon, LLC announced that it received a patent for its GPS container tracking system on November 11, 2008. Lat-Lon’s innovative GPS container tracking system solves four major hurdles when deploying a container tracking solution. |
First the Lat-Lon system has the capability to communicate location data from the container worldwide. The data from the system is sent using either a low earth satellite or GSM/GPRS cellular technology. |
Second, combined with a previous patent, the Lat-Lon system is solar powered and can run indefinitely. With available solar power, the unit is constantly recharged with renewable power to keep the system running year after year. This eliminates the cost of having to replace batteries or the unit at some time in the future. |
Third, the system is rugged and can withstand the punishment of living on a container from the open ocean to the steel rails to the truck driving over passes in rain or snow. Lat-Lon’s current solar powered systems have endured over 400,000,000 miles of travel. |
Lastly, the self contained system is designed to easily mount in one of the ribs of the container, either on the front, or side. By staying within the container envelope, there is no risk of damage of the unit while containers are being handled and the unit tends to blend in with the container. |
This is the third patent that Lat-Lon has received for its GPS tracking and monitoring technology.
