Denver, CO., - September 22, 2005 - Lat-Lon LLC, a provider of industrially hardened wireless monitoring and GPS tracking devices to the transportation industry, and Condor Signal & Communications, Inc., a provider of signaling and communications products and services announced today they have passed the reliability testing portion of the contract from Go Transit of Toronto, Canada to monitor their commuter rail trains.
The two companies partnered to win the Go Transit project over 30 other proposals, with Lat-Lon providing a modified version of its field-proven RailRider locomotive monitoring system, and Condor supplying their Automatic Train Location System (ATLS) software to improve on-time reporting and optimize service recovery activities.
The jointly developed system allows Go Transit to manage and track their commuter trains even while they are traveling on freight rail lines.
The locomotives send messages every few minutes and approximately every half mile as well as report all stops.
All reporting parameters are over-the-air programmable by Go Transit to get the information they need.
The RailRider systems utilizes CDMA 1X-RTT cellular communications to report locomotive locations and other data across the Toronto commuter rail system.
Real time data and a visual display of the entire system gives dispatch a complete picture of the Go Transit operation.
