LAT-LON INTRODUCES FOURTH GENERATION RAILRIDER WIRELESS MONITORING SYSTEM – latest product sets new standards for wireless monitoring and tracking of industrial and transportation assets

Denver, CO., - May 7th, 2004 - Lat-Lon LLC, a leading provider of industrially hardened wireless monitoring and GPS tracking devices to the freight industry, announced today it is in full production of its latest generation RailRider monitoring and tracking system, the RailRider IV. The updated device sets new standards for durability, compact size, and functionality.

Lat-Lon’s original RailRider wireless tracking and monitoring system was designed for use on railcars and intermodal shipments. They are now the most widely deployed telemetry system on railcars in North America, and are also used on refrigerated freight and industrial machinery. The RailRider IV is the fourth generation of the RailRider product line since it was introduced in early 2000. Its patented design utilizes an injection-molded high-impact ABS case, allowing it to be smaller, lighter, and tougher that the previous model. These improvements are allowing Lat-Lon to monitor and track a far greater variety of equipment, including custom containers and smaller-scale industrial equipment.

Upgrades to the new device go well beyond the enclosure, however. The RailRider IV utilizes all the latest advancements in GPS, sensor, and radio technologies. In addition, the RailRider IV provides two breakwire circuits and two serial data interfaces and increases the analog inputs from two to four with 0.1% precision. The system can operate without any batteries at all--meaning no life limited components. As always, the unit is fully self contained with all antennas and solar panels integrated into the enclosure. Dave Baker, Lat-Lon president, is pleased with the results, "The new RailRider keeps us solidly in front of the competition by giving us what our market wants--smaller size, greater functionality, more sensor support, and a life capability far beyond 5 years. And the best news for customers is that the new design allows us to significantly reduce our pricing for volume orders."

It appears the market is ready for the new system. Lat-Lon has signed up six new customers for the RailRider IV since its release was announced in the 1st quarter of 2004, and has seen customer inquiries double in the same period.
