DENVER, Jan. 15, 2002
Lat-Lon, a provider of wireless monitoring and GPS tracking devices to the freight industry, announced today it had received a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office covering the innovative aspects of its "RailTough" X-8 monitoring unit.
The patent protects the salient features of the system design which give the X-8 superior connectivity and power availability over other cellular based self-powered systems on the market today.
"The superior coverage and performance that Lat-Lon's X-8 has provided our customers throughout North America over the last two years has proven that our X-8 offers the best solution for economical wireless tracking and monitoring on the market today.
We are pleased that the advantages that the X-8 brings to the industry have received patent recognition, and will be vigilant about protecting our intellectual property", said Lat-Lon president Dave Baker.
Lat-Lon broke new ground in the tracking and monitoring industry by making the X-8 a completely self-contained, industrially hardened, solar powered unit.
It's unique design allows the unit to be utilized indefinitely outdoors on industrial assets such as rail cars, intermodal containers, locomotives, and industrial machinery.
