Denver, CO. Nov. 30, 1999.
Lat-Lon, LLC announced incorporation in the state of Colorado.
Lat-Lon will commence operations as a provider of remote GPS tracking and monitoring systems to the freight industry.
The concept for Lat-Lon's service came out of a discussion with a frustrated rail fleet owner.
One of his hopper cars was lost by the tracking system provided by the railroad company.
He wondered why there wasn't a cost-effective means of independently tracking and monitoring railcars.
The unit would have to be rugged enough to withstand his harsh open-pit mine environment, and be able to function without an external power source.
The company has been founded by Steve Tautz and David Baker, both engineers with extensive background in electronics, communications and logistics.
Mr. Tautz, as president of Evergreen New Media, helped develop Rand McNally's StreetFinder software interface and GPS functionality.
Mr. Baker, an aeronautics engineer, spent 10 years developing deep-space probes and launch systems for DBA aerospace, Martin Marietta, NASA, JPL, and others.
Together, they bring unparalleled background and experience to the Lat-Lon team.
"Our goal is to make real-time tracking and monitoring an affordable and reliable technology for the entire transportation industry" stated Tautz.
Lat-Lon provides remote fleet tracking and monitoring systems to the rail and road freight industries.
GPS tracking information and monitoring status is transmitted via the existing cellular network to Lat-Lon's database (http://www.lat-lon.com) and is accessible by any Internet enabled PC.
